New Zealand’s First Ever Maori Start Up Weekend

Well what a weekend.  On the 15th to the 17th April we experienced the very first He Tangata Start Up weekend.

54 hours, 21 pitches, 5 teams, 3 judges and a group of smart passionate people with the tools and approaches to help participants get their idea off the ground came together to share in this amazing learning.

At Arewa we value relationships and with the support of passionate people such as Lenz Gschwendtner, Pascale Hyboud-Peron and Rowan Yeoman we were able to provide New Zealand’s first ever Maori Start Up Weekend and the first ever vertical Start Up Weekend hosted outside of Wellington. The Start Up Weekend is the first of a series of workshops designed to ignite entrepreneurial spark and to inspire and further develop thinking and knowledge for Maori Entrepreneurs.
